Our community service project for the year is Brookdale Senior Living Community.
Brookdale houses over 80 residents, many of whom are senior citizens. Our project this year will be to make lap size quilts (anywhere from 36 X 36 inches to 55 X 55 inches). Many residents are in wheelchairs and this will be a great comfort to many.
Kits are available to take at each guild meeting. Talk to the chair of community service during the meeting to receive of the kits. It includes pre-cut fabric for the quilt top only. The quilt top can be quilted and bound by the recipient of the kit, or the completed top can be returned and individuals can be found to do the finishing.
There are also patterns available to members to use their own fabric. If you would like to use your own pattern, we accept those too! Just make sure the quilt is within the size requirements.
We will also accept any other finished quilts that you would like to donate. All donation quilts will be given to an appropriate recipient.
Make 20 Grayscale Blocks for a 40" x 50" quilt, or 25 blocks for a 50" x 50" quilt.
